Come audition for all for One’s production of the fast paced, thrilling, suspense-filled comedy, Around The World In 80 Days!
Directed by Jeff Salisbury
Performances: April 24-26 and May 1-3
This tale of a fastidious English Gentleman, Phileas Fogg, and his servant taking off on a wild adventure around the world on a bet that he can’t make it in 80 days brings forth some outlandish situations and plenty of opportunity for riotous laughter. Add in a case of mistaken identity and a bumbling Scotland Yard detective chasing him around the world and you have a recipe for non-stop fun.
This show has our four main characters and 5 others playing over 30 different parts…. If you want the challenge of playing and English Gentleman, a Chinese monk, an Indian guide, a wild west soldier, Native American warriors and many other hilarious parts, come join us!
This cast calls for:
Phileas Fogg: English gentleman in his forties. A man of superhuman punctuality who never EVER deviates from routine or schedule. He is a dry personality who never cracks a joke, always says what he means, expects everyone to be as structured as he is and yet through it all we find has quite a good and noble heart. English accent
Jean Passepartout: A Frenchman of about 30. He has lead quite an interesting life from circus performer to fireman, to bull fighter and now seeks a quiet structured life as a gentleman’s servant. He is excitable, chatty, quick witted and loyal. French Accent
Aouda: an Indian princess from Bombay but English educated. Mid 20’s – early 30’s. She becomes the unexpected participant over the global trek and provides the warmth and kindness that the Fogg’s world is otherwise lacking. A soft Indian accent or an English accent would be fantastic.
Detective Fix: An English Detective who is intelligent yet dim witted at the same time. He is stubborn and fixed in his ideas and no one will get him to think otherwise. He chases Fogg around the world after becoming convinced he is a thief.
Ensemble: 5 men (possibly 1 woman and 4 men if she is willing to play men on stage) to play every other character in the story equaling over 30 different parts. It will be a challenge with different accents, physical attributes and never resting. Who’s up for it?
